8 hand-colored lithographed plates each comprising 3 layer stand up scenes operated by silk ribbons. Dean’s New Scenic series were the first movable “pop-up” style books by Dean & Son. There were four titles in the series, Aladdin, Robinson Crusoe, Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood.
Good condition. All 8 “pop-up’s“ are complete and all original. Two ribbons are blue, they are either original or a very early replacement. Two ribbons are severed. Original backstrip split several inches at top. Blank endpapers appear secured with amateur repairs. Supports added to the back of one of the pop-ups - see picture. All books are sold on approval - full refund if not delighted for any reason.
