The Collection of Hallmark Animal Pop-Up-Books
(Hallmark's very first pop-up book was this very hard to find set issued in a slipcase)
Kansas City: Hallmark Cards, 1966 - Printed in Japan (First Printing*)
All 4 books are included along with the original slipcase.
Book Titles: The Backyard Zoo; The Kingdom of the Sea; The
Terrible Lizards; The World of Horses.
Each small 5 3/4" x 4 1/4" (10 x 14.5 cm) book has 36
pages and 3 V-fold double-page pop-ups in the center and inside each of the covers.
Condition: Protected by the original slipcase all 4 books are in fine condition. All 12 pop-ups are in fine condition as well with no repairs. The slipcase is in good condition with rubbing - see photos.

Hallmark published more than seventy pop-up book titles from the mid-1960s to 1980.
According to the Bowdoin Library (link below), the boxed set entitled The Collection of Hallmark Animal Pop-Up-Books (Kansas City: Hallmark Cards, 1966.) were the first pop-up books that Hallmark ever produced.
They were written by written by Mary Loberg and David L. Harrison and illustrated by different artists.
Backyard Zoo was illustrated by Frieda L. Staake and Robert S. Robison
The Kingdom of the Sea by Brad Holland
The Terrible Lizards by Robert S. Robison
The World of Horses by Louis Marak.
*They were printed in Japan. Japan indicates first printing:Hallmark's first attempt at pop-up books were printed in Japan. Japan was not efficient enough at the time so soon the printing was moved to Columbia (and Singapore).
