Condition: Fine. Undamaged Book in fantastic condition. It is almost if we pulled this 110 year old book off the shelf yesterday. Tightly bound and complete, no tears, no tape, no writng, no foxing. Covers and pages in excellent shape. See photos.


Story: A stuck up princess refuses the extravagant gifts of a suitor prince, so he disguises himself as a pig boy and sets about to charm her. She proves herself to be, indeed, snobby. The tale is amusing as the pig boy gets the princess to kiss him

Alfred Jacobsen was a 19th and 20th century Alfred Jacobsen was a lithographic art printer and Danish publisher of paper theaters, prints, and a series of picture books. Born in Copenhagen in 1853, he was trained as a lithographer in art press. In 1874 he established his own lithographic institution in Copenhagen and soon began to self-publish.

He started his popular Picture book series “Danske Billedbøger” in 1890 to counteract the import of the popular German books. Each book consisted of 8 small color pages with verses and a color printed cover. The first four books called Nursery rhymes, child's play, How His guardian Geese and Poor Puppy Lise. In 1905, he reached up to no. 200 in the series of Danish picture books. In 1907 he created this one – Svine-drengen - number 266 with movable flaps.

Hans Christian Andersen was a Danish author, fairy tale writer, and poet noted for his children's stories. These include "The Steadfast Tin Soldier," "The Snow Queen," "The Little Mermaid," "Thumbelina," "The Little Match Girl," and "The Ugly Duckling." During his lifetime he was acclaimed for having delighted children worldwide, and was feted by royalty. His poetry and stories have been translated into more than 150 languages. They have inspired motion pictures, plays, ballets, and animated films.” -wikipedia
