Quarto (11 × 8.25 in. / 28 × 22 cm). Original silver-lettered pictorial boards. Issued without dust jacket. Hand-numbered “76” of 365 copies in the signed limited edition, produced for Random House by Black Star Publishing. Warhol’s full signature appears on the front board, with his initials written on each of the book’s ten interactive elements, as issued in this special edition.

Accompanied by an original copy of The Village Voice (December 21, 1967), featuring coverage of the Index Book’s launch party — provenance: Village Voice internal archive.

A coveted artifact of Pop Art and 1960s avant-garde publishing. Warhol’s Index Book was the first interactive artist’s book of its kind, merging mechanical pop-ups, inserts, and sound with Factory celebrity culture and subversive design. Condition: Fine. Binding square and tight, with only minor shelfwear to boards. Contents clean. All novelties functional and complete, including rare intact dome and flexi-disc. Balloon sealed but present. Village Voice newspaper included, lightly age-toned but complete. An exceptional, museum-worthy copy.
